ALDO 2/15/10

When I went to Aldo Elementary yesterday, I noticed several interesting things about the school. One thing I noticed that I have never seen before was that the teacher was called by her first name by her students. I liked the environment and the casualty about the school. When I arrived in the teacher's classroom, she was finishing up reading a story for Presidents Day. Next, the teacher and students moved on to working in their journals. We walked around while the students were working on their sentences and if they needed help we assisted them. I was surprised with how intelligent the students were and how much they already knew. A moajority of the students knew vowels, compound words, punctuation and other elements used in writing. I could see, however there was a variety of ability levels when I helped them with their sentences but most of the students wrote one to two sentences with little to no struggle. I enjoyed my first experience at Aldo. The teacher, students and the classroom environment were extremely comforting and welcoming and I am anxious to go back next week.
